At this point almost any story about the Marlins can be spun into laughs, but this one from Joe Frisaro of MLB.com legitimately made me chuckle:

The team has already reached out to Juan Uribe to play either third base or first. A proven run producer, Uribe brings leadership to the table, and he is playoff-proven.

That’s a lot of proven in one man!

Also, just for the record: Uribe has never driven in more than 85 runs in a season, he’s topped 75 RBIs just once in 13 seasons, and this year he had 50 RBIs in 132 games for the Dodgers. He’s also a career .214 hitter with a .619 OPS in 40 playoff games. Proven!

He has more left than Springsteen.

no he doesn’t. springsteen still crowd surfs.

        Not a compelling argument.

Despite his career numbers you have to love this guy as a player . Any team would love a player like uribe on their team who cares

Clutchness goes a long way these days

Uribe has proven he is not worth the money he has made.

You know who’s a proven run producer? MVP Miggy. Maybe they should check him out. Oh, wait… Thank you.

    • historiophiliac - Nov 20, 2013 at 2:21 PM

BTW, here’s how you know it’s the offseason: Miggy keeps retweeting a bunch of stuff and it’s not just the usual promotional junk. He’s bored. On the upside, I love reading all of his tweets/retweets in Spanish even though I don’t understand most of them. Looks like I’m brushing up this offseason!

he is also a run giver awayer.

Still, I wouldn’t kick him off the roster

I’ll bet Mr Rodriguez with the NYY club might be available.

who would want Uribe? 3 year contract sucked for the first 2 turns it on somewhat in year 3

    • yahmule - Nov 20, 2013 at 3:39 PM

Well, doing it the other way around would have been pretty dumb.

      • NYTolstoy - Nov 20, 2013 at 4:21 PM

hahahaha, well done good sir. I applaud you, honestly very funny

Since Uribe isn’t really a third baseman, he would fit in perfectly at third base for the Feesh. This, I suspect, is what the Feesh had in mind when they said they would be “building around” the Iron Giant.
