Miguel Cabrera appears to be getting pretty emo about the Prince Fielder trade

Nov 21, 2013, 3:00 PM EDT

Go check out Miguel Cabrera’s Twitter page since last night’s Prince Fielder trade. He’s posting and retweeting pics of him and Prince Fielder like crazy. Usually without comment. It’s giving off a decidedly sad vibe, to be honest:

I can almost hear those opening piano notes of “I will remember you” when I look at these. Sad jams.

The more you ignore me, the closer I get.

    • vanmorrissey - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:50 PM

      Ah, a little Morrissey, sweet!

  2. moogro - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:10 PM

The closer you get, the further I fall.

  3. historiophiliac - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:13 PM

Me too, Miggy. Me too. 😦

    • paperlions - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:26 PM

Turn that frown upside down. This changes the likelihood of extending His Heterochrominess from nearly 0% to something much higher than that.

      • historiophiliac - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:33 PM

I can still be sad. I love Prince. I will miss him, even though I know it probably helps the team. I love watching how he and Miggy are together. Also, I know it was too much, but I liked the idea of a Fielder dynasty in the fold. Fielder bowling made me laugh and I don’t really like Kinsler. And I’m stuck with Phil Coke — and probably Derp Kelly — for another season. Sigh. I gotta grieve a little, man.

      • historiophiliac - Nov 21, 2013 at 4:05 PM

PS I was really hoping the trolls would move along after the post-season started. 😦

      • maikoch - Nov 21, 2013 at 6:20 PM

Do you think there is ANY possibility that the people who are critical of you are not “trolls,” and have legitimate objections to the tone and content of your posts?

In other words, is it just possible that YOU have something to do with the overwhelmingly negative response you seem to trigger?

      • historiophiliac - Nov 21, 2013 at 8:14 PM

I wonder why it is that you assumed I was referring to interactions involving myself. I was not. Why don’t you run along and pick on the boys now.

  4. nsauser - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:16 PM

    Wait, so emo = emotion?

  5. The Dangerous Mabry - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:17 PM

I know Cabrera’s in better shape than C.C., but I can’t stop thinking of this article:,2493/

One of the very best Onion pieces.

  6. Arods Other Doctor - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:18 PM

If he dies his hair black and lets his bangs grow out I’m not going to be able to support him.

    • historiophiliac - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:19 PM

Where do you stand on guyliner?

  7. nuggets43 - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:28 PM

It’s obvious that Miggy was absolutely hammered last night and got all emotional. Hope he wasn’t driving.

    • historiophiliac - Nov 21, 2013 at 3:43 PM

What’s your evidence that he was drunk?

      • nuggets43 - Nov 21, 2013 at 4:06 PM

        Because it’s funny

      • historiophiliac - Nov 21, 2013 at 4:09 PM

Oh, so you’re just full of crap. Okay.

People need to learn how to take a joke.

FTFY — cuz that was not funny

We’ll always have Detroit. ‘You must remember this, a kiss is just a kiss…’

    • km9000 - Nov 22, 2013 at 1:28 AM

The contracts of two major leaguers amount to really, really big hills of beans in this crazy world.

  11. xjokerz - Nov 21, 2013 at 5:29 PM

Craig is a miggy / tiger hater. Not surprised he went as deep as to call miggy emo. Why don’t you make yourself useful and write another blog about trout being the true MVP. #Fail

    • aiede - Nov 21, 2013 at 11:32 PM

Somehow, I think the dude with the Tigers blogger girlfriend isn’t a “miggy/tiger hater.”

      Been busy?

      • indaburg - Nov 21, 2013 at 6:24 PM

Yeah, work has been crazy. I’ve been reading HBT, but I’m mostly lurking. 84 days until pitchers and catchers report. I don’t know if I’m going to make it. Funny, most people are calling for a shorter baseball season. I want it all the time.

Poor sad Miggy. First thing I heard in my head was the opening chord to “Everybody Hurts.”

      • historiophiliac - Nov 21, 2013 at 6:32 PM

The tweeted messages are so sad. On the plus side, I’m dusting off my Spanish…

      • indaburg - Nov 21, 2013 at 6:45 PM

Oh, now I have to check this out.

Awww… “friendship never ends, we’re only on different teams.” Someone needs a hug. I get like this… but usually it’s around my period. I just saw those pics and Miggy needs to pull himself together. Prince didn’t die. He can charter a plane tomorrow and go golfing with Prince, or do whatever it is rich dudes do when they don’t have to work.

  13. frank433 - Nov 21, 2013 at 5:54 PM

I don’t know, he was a pretty good hitter with Martinez behind him in 2011. It’s not like he came out of nowhere the last 2 years. Lineup protection us more overrated than the pitcher win.

  14. Minoring In Baseball - Nov 22, 2013 at 12:53 AM

He’ll miss Prince hitting behind him, but I think he’ll be glad to get back to playing first base. The hot corner took it’s toll on him physically this past season. V-Mart will be fine in the clean-up spot for now, but Detroit really needs a solid lefty bat for LF.

  15. km9000 - Nov 22, 2013 at 1:35 AM

April 3, 2014: A giddy Fielder touches Beltre’s head after the two hit back-to-back homers.

April 4, 2014: Cabrera unfollows Fielder.

  16. xjokerz - Nov 22, 2013 at 9:44 AM

97.1 the ticket here in Detroit last night talked about the Detroit Tigers push for

    and possibly Justin morneau.

    helps coming a big way

    Tigers 2014′ champs

    • robprpbst - Nov 22, 2013 at 11:31 AM

I also heard Valente say he wouldn’t be shocked if the brought in Terry’s Dog,lol. But seriously I don’t think another huge$$ contract is coming this way. But some good minor pieces maybe. That is the key, being plural not one single contract but fill the holes that this team has. But I agree with you on 1 thing Tigers 2014′ Champs
