The Royals have new alternate road jerseys

Nov 25, 2013, 10:30 AM EDT

Released via Royals Twitter:

With the understanding being that, as a rule, I hate the solid tops/different color pants combos, this one is probably one of the better alternates of that style out there. Mostly because they bother to make it look like a baseball uniform rather than just some warmup pullover someone got from the rack in the locker room. There’s a formality to it that works.

That said: the Royals have almost always looked snazzy over the course of their history, even when they went with blue shirts (their powder blues were better than just about everyone else’s). Their only missteps have been the vests and the black accent colors from the early 2000s.

I am kinda surprised to see that this is the first time they’ve ever used the KC logo on the actual jerseys. All in all? Pretty good, if one insists on not wearing road grays.

    Lourde does not approve.

They look nice, but they cost $8,000 each and are made out of slightly below average fabric.

what the hell are you talking about? 8,000 dollars?

      link!?

I also heard they’re haunted. Tough bit of luck there.

    Sharp.

on another note, those uni’s look awesome.

Looks better than most of the softball team UNI’S worn by other MLB teams. Would have looked even better if the patch on the shoulder were enlarged and placed on the front of the jersey in place of the “KC”.

I like them and yes even though they have looked awful with there play on the field for the better part of a quarter century they have always looked great in there uni’s. I still prefer the powder blues and hope they still wear them from time to time. There home whites are and always have been the classiest uni’s in baseball. Got to say hate the road grey but everyone in baseball wears those.

    Powder blues are the best

    It kinda looks like pajamas

And in a nod to technology, that middle “button” is actually a CCD camera that will allow the broadcasters to show the game from the various player’s point of view. (I just made that up, but it would be kinda cool, wouldn’t it?)

Imagine the replay on a fly ball to the wall… CRASH CAM!!! YEAH!

  11. Walk - Nov 25, 2013 at 2:24 PM

I like that combo as well.

Road grays r boring. Every uniform post, you want everyone to look the same. Might as well just get a black n white TV. snore…

I like solids on road grays, but then Winter Ball is famous for its color. Though one year two teams had the exact same road uniform except for the colors on the letters (blue-black) when playing a triple tie breaker in another stadium, both teams only had their road uniforms to wear, it made it absolutely impossible to tell them apart, I think from that day onwards I started actively disliking all gray uniforms.
