Per Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles, Dodgers GM Ned Colletti says he has made multiple offers to Juan Uribe, but have yet to hear back. The 34-year-old free agent has spent a majority of his playing time at third base since joining the Dodgers in 2011.

Uribe had a career year in 2013, finishing with a .769 OPS in 426 plate appearances. Adjusting for league and park effects, his OPS was 17 points above average. By Wins Above Replacement, he was the seventh-most valuable third baseman in baseball at 5.1 WAR, between Adrian Beltre (5.2) and Chase Headley (3.6).

    Why?

Sign him, post for Tanaka, bring back J.P Howell, find a couple of bench players, keep the outfield together, extend Hanley and Clayton and win the World Series.

It doesn’t say what the offers are–how much–How long?

Why multiple when he has not heard back? That is not a good tactic.

The Dodgers can afford to overpay as long as they don’t over commit in terms of years. Corey Seager will be ready in two years. If they couldn’t get on the same page with Uribe I thought Stephen Drew would have been maybe even a better solution since Hanley is willing to move to third. However Drew was given a qualifying offer and it would be foolish to give up a first round pick for such a two year contract.

Uribe might just be wanting too much-Nobody is saying what the offers were or what he is asking really-Teams are paying a lot for everything right now-We probably have to wait

Im starting to give Colletti some credit now–If Uribe is asking too much–Then really go after Stanton from the Marlins hard–Trade Eithier and or Crawford and more in a deal–If Uribe doesnt ask for something senseable we have other options–after getting Stanton–We need offense!-Alex and Hanley can play 3B–See what Seager will do in the spring-Ive seen him play his defense is fine it is his youth-20 years old? Give him a good shot in the spring-He might even be ready now! If not then We have Hanley-Alex and Gorden in the infield–That would be great IF we have Stanton-Kemp and Puig in the outfield–Moving Crawford and Eithier might also open it up for Pederson too–Right now I think its up to Uribe and Colletti making those deals
