Don’t count on a Chris Sale trade

Dec 9, 2013, 2:55 PM EDT

About that report from this morning that teams are shooting offers to the White Sox for Chris Sale? Eh, don’t think too hard about it:

The White Sox need to rebuild, owner Jerry Reinsdorf says that no one is untouchable and Chris Sale would bring back a lot of pieces. But what he’s unlikely to bring back is a young, cheap top-flight starter. That’s what he is. And it’s better to rebuild around that than anything else.

hmm, gotta disagree with you there. I’d rather re-build around a position player. Young pitchers break, and there have been concerns with Sale beyond typical young pitcher concerns. They would be better off with Taveras/Wong/Adams or some equivalent.

Plus, I can infer from the photo that he has mastered the Crane Kick. So if Johnny and the Cobra Kai ever rush the mound, Sale will be ready!

At the moment, Sale is not for sale; but, that could change if someone makes an offer the White Sox cannot refuse.
