UPDATE: Notre Dame-Boston College is now officially booked at Fenway Park in 2015.

==========

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Fenway Park Sports Group is in talks with Notre Dame and Boston College to host a football game at the ballpark in 2015.

That’s when the two schools are next scheduled to play and according to Cafardo the venue competing against Fenway Park for the game might be somewhere in Ireland.

So yeah, either way gonna be a bunch of Irish dudes at the game, I guess.

    I think this kind of thing is pretty cool, but I hope they thought this through a little better than the game at Wrigley a year or so ago. Having half the field essentially off limits made for a strange game.

      Fenway was one of the Patriots early homes, so we do know that the dimensions work out. The Wrigley problem won’t be an issue.

        The Chicago Bears played at Wrigley from 1921-1970. You can’t make that assumption the dimensions work out.

    converting baseball fields to football fields is corny.

      Yea, about as corny as putting a hockey rink on LA Dodgers stadium infield is. Oh by the way:

    What? They couldn’t draw a game to Fenway between to RELEVANT teams?

    Hopefully they plan this better than the Cardinals did last year. They played a football game at Busch Stadium just 2 days before the Cardinals final home stand and their playoff push and it completely destroyed the turf. The poor groundskeeper and his team had 2 days to A) Find enough of the type of high quality turf they use and B) Replace the destroyed turf and get it ready for the Cardinals to play on in 48 hours. It was a fiasco. I hope the Cardinals learned their lesson and never do something so stupid again. Fenway Park is a CRAPPY place to watch a football game. One end zone will be across the 3rd base dugout, and they’ll install bleachers along the Green Monster! Better to play a game like that at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro! That’s just my ( not so humble) opinion! :P
