Photo of the Day: This is how Roy Halladay dresses up for 1980s costume parties

Dec 31, 2013, 8:22 AM EDT

Happy New Year’s Eve. If you’ve come here for serious baseball news today, well, I feel bad for ya son.  But at least we have stuff like Roy Halladay dressing up like Jamie Moyer for a 1980s-themed costume party:

I’m guessing there will be baseball news in 2014. Until then, I will probably switch from mimosas to straight champagne around 2pm, so stay tuned.

Will he also channel his inner Lionel Ritchie and party All Night Long?

hmmm 1968… so lets see… carry the 1… that would have made Moyer about 58 years old.

I remember an old interview with Brandi Halladay. They were in high school (different schools I think) when they met, and Roy had not yet been drafted by The Jays. She went home and told her mom that she thought that she had met her future husband. He was still in the minors when they got married.

That’s great. Just goes to show that there ARE nice guys out there, and some of them do finish first.

        I don’t follow.

I think what he’s getting at is; Brandi appears to be a good looking woman, married to a pro athlete. The twist being they met way before he made it big. Also, Roy seems to be a good dude – and he landed a hot wife. Seems to be an inordinate number of good looking women with ugly and/or douchey men.

        That is so illogical.

      • jimeejohnson - Dec 31, 2013 at 1:03 PM

Not illogical. Money makes people do strange things.

Don Mattingly and his first wife met in high school, and they were still together and decent looking when he retired, too.

    Now THAT is awesome.

Mrs. Doc gets +1 for crimping the hair. Sweet costumes.

Gonna miss seeing Halladay on the mound.

too bad he’s not flashing the ‘bicepts’

    Step 1. Retirement.

Step 2. Jan. 1, 2014 legal recreational weed in his home state of Colorado.

Step 3. No worries about old arm pains.

    Happy New Year, Roy!

Thumbs down thanks to J. Edgar Hoover.

      • nothanksimdriving123 - Dec 31, 2013 at 6:08 PM

Actually Jimee, if you are referring to Step 2, Harry Anslinger had more to do with the war on pot than J.Edgar did. What a waste. If I could have 1% of the money we’ve wasted chasing pot consumers, retailers and farmers, I’d retire too.

He is now living in Florida.

I met Roy and Brandi once. She is absolutely terrific and he was so unassuming! Wish I could still watch him pitch. Best of luck in his retirement!

Doc was forced to dress like the American 80s from 1998-2009.
