Indians, Josh Outman avoid arbitration

Acquired from the Rockies for Drew Stubbs last month, left-hander Josh Outman has avoided arbitration with the Indians by agreeing to a one-year contract.

Outman had a 4.33 ERA and 53/23 K/BB ratio in 54 innings for the Rockies last season and will work middle relief for the Indians after holding left-handed hitters to a .198 batting average.

At age 29 this was his second season of arbitration eligibility.

    I think he would be more affective just being a lefty specialist with once in a while getting a couple of righties out.
