Kevin Gausman is in The Best Shape of His Life

Jan 16, 2014, 11:32 AM EST

Kevin Gausman of the Baltimore Orioles is 23 years-old, so if he isn’t in The Best Shape of His Life he’s doing things wrong. Still, this feature does not pass judgments. It merely chronicles history. And sketchy claims of superior, unprecedented fitness:

Grainy, pixelated, flip phone video or it didn’t happen.

He does have the talent to be a very good pitcher. However, how will he mature from a physical and mental standpoint? That is clearly the defining question and that will only be answered over time.

BSOHL!! How I’ve missed you! Baseball is almost here…

Is the weight gain due to BSOHL, pigging out, or just filling out?

Reports on Twitter is that he looks very impressive physically, so it’s probably a combination of filling out and working out, but certainly not pigging out.

      • proudlycanadian - Jan 16, 2014 at 12:43 PM

That coincides with what he claimed.

It’s surely not pigging out- It’s recently been reported that he has retired the powdered donut routine and is eating much healthier now. Hopefully feeling and seeing the results will be enough for him to kick it for good. Then again, if confectioner sugar is the only white powder he runs into during his career, I’d chalk that up as a W in life.

Sigh…it sure would be nice to go back to being 23 and having putting ON weight be my biggest concern.

Indecently, they are also saying very impressive things about Bundy and how he’s recovering really well from surgery.

I hope you meant incidentally. That would be rather awkward for them to be saying indecent things about Bundy.

        Whoops. Been a long week.

Tillman, Chen, Gonzo, Chunk Norris, Gausman as a starting 5. Just wanted to remind O’s fans of our starting 5 as it projects for 2014 as of today. I’d be willing to bet 2 or 3 of those names will have changed by August 2014. Hopefully it’s Bundy joining the rotation, and a trade away of one of the many #2′s and #3′s in the rotation for an upgrade somewhere else. Then again, wishful thinking plus Angelos always equals disappointment.
