Drake mocks A-Rod on “Saturday Night Live”

Jan 19, 2014, 4:39 PM EDT

Drake hosted and performed a few songs on this week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” on NBC. He also impersonated Alex Rodriguez in the opening sketch. It’s right after the Chris Christie bit …

I think you mean Aubrey from the Canadian melodrama Degrassi: The Next Generation mocked A-Rod on Saturday Night Live.

God I can’t believe that guy is taken seriously.

Aubrey I mean. Not A-Rod. No one takes A-Rod seriously.

What’s with the thumbs down? Are there actually Drake fans on this forum???? How can I respect that…who are you people? SHOW YOUR SELVES!!! and god have mercy on your souls!!!!

      • tfbuckfutter - Jan 19, 2014 at 6:24 PM

I like to think they are from Degrassi:TNG fans.

    • NYTolstoy - Jan 19, 2014 at 6:48 PM

TNG fans? I didn’t figure we had alot of 12 year old girl pop fans who are also hard core baseball fans…who would of thought

      • tfbuckfutter - Jan 19, 2014 at 7:41 PM

I actually like Degrassi. I grew up with it on PBS and even as a kid I appreciated the cheesy after-school specialness of it….

So I did actually watch TNG in a somewhat ironic way until the DVR stopped recording new episodes (Because you can’t set your DVR to just record Degrassi….no it distinguishes between Degrassi: Boiling Points and Degrassi: Oh No You Din’t….stupid technology keeping me from finding out what happened to the transgendered kid in season whatever the hell that was)

Alex Rodriguez is FIGHTING for his life and honor….

    • dylanthom2013 - Jan 19, 2014 at 9:15 PM

No one’s questioning his honor, they’re denying its existence.

  3. chadjones27 - Jan 19, 2014 at 5:20 PM

A-Rod uses a blackberry. Everybody knows that. Jeez, Piers Morgan is a terrible investigative reporter.

  4. sfm073 - Jan 19, 2014 at 5:21 PM

    Who is drake?

    • tfbuckfutter - Jan 19, 2014 at 5:36 PM

This dork here who is now, somehow, considered a legit rapper.

    • tfbuckfutter - Jan 19, 2014 at 5:37 PM

Long story short, he’s a Canadian musician with a more embarrassing back story than Justin Beiber.

      • proudlycanadian - Jan 19, 2014 at 5:49 PM

We are much more embarrassed by Justin Beiber and Celine Dion.

      • tfbuckfutter - Jan 19, 2014 at 6:00 PM

Admittedly, Bieber and Dion are probably more embarrassing in their current career…..

But seriously. His background is unbelievably embarrassing. Even if he were a pop star.

    • badsequel - Jan 19, 2014 at 9:33 PM

I’d love to see A-Rod parody some autotuned Drake mess of a song

  5. wingslax35 - Jan 19, 2014 at 5:47 PM

    Hate the Drake!

  6. nicofthenorthstar - Jan 19, 2014 at 5:58 PM

And people with any sort of refined musical sensibilities mock Drake. All the time.

  7. Stiller43 - Jan 19, 2014 at 6:01 PM

    Who the hell is drake?

  8. themanytoolsofignorance - Jan 19, 2014 at 6:14 PM

I think Ive heard of this “Beiber”. But this “Drake”? No, never heard of him. Did a pretty good ARod though. He might have a career in ARod impersonations.

    • NatsLady - Jan 19, 2014 at 7:24 PM

Yeah, I never heard of Drake, and barely heard of Bieber (thank goodness for students). Nailed ARod though.

  9. NYTolstoy - Jan 19, 2014 at 6:20 PM

God I Despise Drake even more then A rod. The so called gangster rapper who grew up in a high middle class family in Canada who came out on the oh so annoying degrasi. It just all makes me feel dirty.

    • historiophiliac - Jan 19, 2014 at 8:49 PM

      Hey, suburbia is hard!

    • asimonetti88 - Jan 20, 2014 at 5:51 PM

Drake doesn’t really pretend to be gangster. His music is all cheesy love songs.

      • asimonetti88 - Jan 20, 2014 at 6:00 PM

To clarify: not defending Drake or his music, but his music isn’t about shooting people or trying to be Tupac. It’s just dime a dozen crappy love songs.

  10. deadeyedesign23 - Jan 19, 2014 at 7:10 PM

Not liking Drake is one ting…never heard of him? How old is everyone on this site?…like a million, give or take?

    • tfbuckfutter - Jan 19, 2014 at 8:25 PM

      Totes. Like a mil. Bro.

      • deadeyedesign23 - Jan 20, 2014 at 5:30 PM

  11. spezzdispenser - Jan 19, 2014 at 9:18 PM

You all sound like crusty old baseball fans.

    • dylanthom2013 - Jan 19, 2014 at 9:42 PM

The “crusty” part of it is inside their Depends. More orange-flavored Metamucil for the grampas please.

  12. disgracedfury - Jan 20, 2014 at 12:39 AM

I thought it was funny. Funnier is he needed brown makeup to make his skin look darker.

  13. nymets4ever - Jan 20, 2014 at 10:59 AM

Some people here are trying way too hard to look all cool and detached from modern pop culture by acting like they don’t know who Drake and Justin Bieber are, and it’s hilariously transparent.

Do I like their music, no I don’t. I’m more of an alternative/classic/progressive rock and metal guy myself. But at the same time, I know other people have different tastes which are every bit as valid as mine, and I’m also not gonna sit here pretending I’ve never HEARD of two artists as ubiquitous as Drake and Bieber in some desperate ploy to win Internet cool points.

    • realitypolice - Jan 20, 2014 at 4:24 PM

My thoughts exactly. I call BS on everyone saying they never heard of Drake. Listen, I’m 47 friggin years old. I couldn’t identify a single Drake or Justin Bieber song if my life depended on it. I don’t know if I had ever heard a Drake song before SNL. But I certainly had heard of him.

And BTW- he was pretty good on SNL. His acting, I mean, not his rapping. I thought that was terrible. Of course, as we’ve already established, I’m old.
