Mike Moustakas is in The Best Shape of His Life

Jan 27, 2014, 4:24 PM EST

Provisionally anyway. No actual declaration by Moustakas, but he is a strong candidate for BSHOL status during spring training:

Of course, the entire enterprise of BSHOL watches we’ve undertaken here at HBT may be working against us. Because now the reporters of BSOHL status are wary of stepping into cliche, and may thus be underselling what used to be unequivocal BSHOL declarations:

Better to be a victim of one’s own success, of course, than to never have had success at all. That is, if you consider coming up with a silly winter time waster like BSOHL stuff a form of “success.”

Roids. Must be a contract year.

i wish you weren’t right, but i have a feeling you are.

He will be arbitration eligible in 2015 and is not a free agent until 2018.

      Nice guess though

Craig, a great winter time waster we would all enjoy would be a look back at last year’s BSOHL players, and their results.

I’m tired of all this BSOHL crap.

Can we PLEASE get a story or two about some guys who are in the third and fourth best shapes of their life?

    • gmagic9044 - Jan 27, 2014 at 4:57 PM

      Hahaha. Agreed.

Just once I want to hear an athlete say: “You know what? Honestly… I have let myself go. I’m probably in the worst shape of my life heading into this season.”

      • tfbuckfutter - Jan 27, 2014 at 5:15 PM

“I’m ah….you know….well….as you can see I kind enjoyed my off season a little too much….jigglejigglehaha….but no, seriously, I’m going to give up mixed drinks after this weekend, cut back to just beer a couple weeks into spring training then stick to light beer for the season. I’ll be in the same shape I was as a rookie by May.”

        John…..Kruk…….’nuff said.

      • kcfanatic - Jan 27, 2014 at 8:41 PM

        gmagi9044,

Moustakas is never in very good shape. So every other year would be the “I let myself Go” stance from him. So far, he is a major bust on a can’t miss. It seems like the only real can’t miss superstar from the organization is playing for Tampa right now.

But having the audacity to applaud those in only the third or fourth best shape of their lives would just be another case of liberals adding to the wussification of America!

Or, is applauding only those in the best shape of their lives another result of the nanny state? Let’s wait for Obama to chime in before taking a negative stance.

Have we examined the BSOHL case of Hyun-Jin Ryu? Last year, there were a lot of concerns about his shape (which could best be described as “pear” at the time). There are already reports about his off-season workouts, running stairs at Dodger Stadium.

  6. hehateme1 - Jan 27, 2014 at 7:27 PM

Is this the dude that has the worst batting stance of all time? Looks like he’s swinging at flies or something.

  7. xjokerz - Jan 27, 2014 at 8:49 PM

After craigs ratings of managers looks..you would think he would dim down on the judging of other guys and their looks, especially with a ridiculous amount of ” BEST SHAPE OF HIS LIFE ” blogs.

    #Gets Old.

    • tfbuckfutter - Jan 27, 2014 at 9:08 PM

      Yeah Craig!

      Quite being gay!

      You gay loving gay!

    • skerney - Jan 27, 2014 at 9:54 PM

All three of Craig’s jokes are old and tired but at least he tells them again and again and again.

    • km9000 - Jan 27, 2014 at 9:55 PM

Yes, but mock hashtags never get old, do they…

  8. Tyree Studio - Jan 28, 2014 at 1:08 PM

You should have requested a patent on the phrase and logo Craig.
