The Diamondbacks extend contracts of GM Kevin Towers, manager Kirk Gibson

Feb 3, 2014, 4:20 PM EDT

The Dbacks have locked up the brain trust:

I love the use of “terms not disclosed.” That’s usually said by the reporter when the source of the news does not disclose the terms. Here it’s the Dbacks themselves, passively, saying that the terms aren’t disclosed. They could more accurately say “we’re not telling you the terms.” Then we can say “terms not disclosed.

Anyway, Towers and Gibby are going to be around for a while.

    Gritty s.o.b.s

Why didn’t they just use “#nunya” if they aren’t going to tell?

As a Padres fan, this is great news.

You may want to get used to Dodgers swimming in your pool,

      They’ve already installed a remote-controlled quick-drain.

The quote in the picture is kinda peculiar. It praises a lot of things, like their work ethic, their successful careers and their loyalty (which seems to be a really big deal for Kendrick) without ever addressing their results with the Diamondbacks.

To me, all of that other stuff is just a distraction. I’m still clinging to my Diamondbacks fandom, but I want to see winning baseball not work ethics, reputations and loyalty.

DBacks top brass said the extensions were done in part to quiet continuing speculation. Not disclosing even the length of the extensions is hardly going to end the discussion. Around the first of August I’m sure folks will wonder whether Gibby and Towers are about to enter their contract end year in 2015. The Gibby/Towers contract issue was bungled completely by Kendrick and Hall, and it looks like the distraction won’t go away any time soon…..

Why do they always spell D-Bags wrong?

I don’t mind Gibson, but Towers is a disgrace to all that is good and holy. He should be prosecuted, not extended.
