The Braves are adding a red jersey, eliminating a red jersey

Feb 5, 2014, 5:11 PM EST

David O’Brien of the AJC reports that the Braves, on five occasions next season, will wear a special red jersey that honors the military. The script Braves across the chest will be blue with stars:

The jerseys will be worn on days that honor military families and will be accompanied by charitable efforts supporting veterans group.

A bonus:

I’ve hated the Braves in red jerseys since they were introduced. So now that they (a) will only be worn for good causes; and (b) will be worn less, well, that’s totally win-win. Plus we get way more of those sweet home alternates they wear, and that’s just grand.

That is some of the ugliest lettering I’ve ever seen, and practically unreadable. At least they won’t be wearing it very often.

The red jersey was my favorite, these are ugly. I like the point behind the new one but those things are terrible.

The military appreciation theme has jumped the shark imo.

Why do you hate America? And, by the way, if the Braves loved the military they’d wear those uniforms for all 162 games.

        For shame.

It’s spelled “Murka”, 18thstreet, get it right!

Those creme colored alternates are so sweet! Good riddance to the red Friday jerseys!

The dark blue jersey with white outline is their best.

Sigh…yet more teams trying to put more red in their uniforms…just change your name to the Red Sox while you’re at it.

So you’re saying my red McCann jersey is now a throwback? Neat.
