Jamie Moyer, Matt Stairs to man the Comcast booth for the Phillies

Matt Stairs AP

Now this is fun: Todd Zolecki reports that Comcast SportsNet will announce Jamie Moyer and Matt Stairs have joined its Phillies broadcast team as early as tomorrow. They’re just finalizing the contracts. Both Stairs and Moyer played for the 2008 World Series champs and both seem — from this distance anyway — to be a lot of fun.

Bonus: with those two signed by Comcast, Ruben Amaro will likely be unable to put them in uniform. Which you know he wants to.

That does sound pretty fun. I’ll have to check them out.

just provide behind the scenes information, provide your opinion if you must but don’t try to force it on me as fact. and for goshsakes don’t try to tell me what I’m watching. I expect Stairs to be funny and Moyer to be just a tad bit to boring for my taste, but time will tell.

You trying to say there is something wrong pointing out the “No Doubles” defense 1,947 times in the course of the season?

Yes Wheels, we get it….they are on the lines at the corners….yes, a ball will get through for a single that earlier in the game would not have…..or a ball will fall for a single in the outfield but nothing will get over the heads of the outfielders…… we understand the cost/benefit angle

Sounds like a good combination. Much better than Wheels and Sarge. The only surprising thing is Ruben didn’t try to sign these two to play this year.

I envision Moyer to be more of a Terri Schiavo-esque commentator. But anything is better than Wheels.

When Matts Stairs Was King! Where you at?

Expect to hear some references to hockey from Stairs.

Does the FCC allow you to say Ass Hammer on the air?

Also, who will man the baseball field? I mean are they are they really going to put that Busch league squad back on the field this season too?

Weak… Your “trolling” is well below even off-season standards. You had one thing that was barely humorous with your list. Stick to that. This thing you’re doing now, posting some weak joke on every single Phillies post, it’s just weird.

      • El Bravo - Feb 11, 2014 at 3:31 PM

It wasn’t a joke. The Phillies are bad at baseball. See you on next Phillies post, sucker.

    • DelawarePhilliesFan - Feb 11, 2014 at 3:48 PM

No – he has a point. This is weak stuff. Where is your 2011 form? Show some pride!

    • hisgirlgotburrelled - Feb 11, 2014 at 5:01 PM

Phillies fans must have really hurt your feelings in the past 😦

nah; just beat up his Braves.

Still have the worst play by play guy in baseball.

Makes sense now why he was at Wing Bowl last week. Although, I don’t know if his new employer had this in mind:

Judging by Amaro’s recent signings, I’d say he’s more interested in signing Curt Schilling or Mike Lieberthal than either of these two.
