Matt Gelb reports that Cole Hamels is suffering from biceps tendinitis. Hamels says it means he won’t pitch Opening Day.  He does say, however, that he expects to be pitching in games in April, even if he can’t answer the bell at the end of March for the opener.

Man. And the Phillies’ offseason had been going so well, too.

Maybe Amaro can talk ole Roy halladay out of retirement, and he can make the opening day start. that’d be cool, right?!?!?

Jamie Moyer can probably come out of the booth, give them 3 innings and go back up to call the rest of the game.

Why would he have to wait until he was finished to start broadcasting?

“Here I am on the mound, ready to deliver the 2-0 pitch to Prince Fielder and wow he got some wood on that… wait let me see… yeah it’s gone. What do you think Matt?”

“Jamie I think you should walked that beast of a hitter, if you keep pitching like this, you’ll be up in the booth before the end of the first inning never mind the third.”

Well he’s pretty old. I wouldn’t want to tax him.

This sucks! Count on Hamels to miss most of April if not the whole month if they are announcing this on Feb. 12th.

Dave Montgomery, Comcast just gave you 2.5 Billion dollars. Open your purse and give Amaro 16 million to go get AJ Burnett. Don’t be a cheap bastard.

David Murphy is reporting that they have done exactly that – signed Burnett for 1yr/$16m. Works for me.

Me too. David Montgomery read what I wrote and heeded my advice. The Phillies should listen to me more often.

The ‘Cepts speaks, the Phillies listen: it had to happen once. Hope it works out for Your Boys, ‘Cepts. I like AJ. He’s a solid pitcher and was a decent enough guy when he pitched for The Beav. He needs a competent catcher: the bulk of his issues in NY were Jorge Posada related.

    And the Season is over!

Man how the Phillies resemble that Family Guy Mets joke.

And the Phillies sign AJ Burnett
