C.J. Wilson, Josh Hamilton banged up today

Feb 25, 2014, 4:04 PM EDT

Bad day to be an Angel. First this:

Then this:

Hamilton’s issue is a sore calf that is being characterized as minor, but at the moment we’re not sure what it is. It’s Josh Hamilton, though, so if he wasn’t at least a little bit hurt things would be rather odd.

Were they filming another Head & Shoulders commercial together?

Someone better check in on Polamalu.

A’s win this division by 30 games. At least.

Don’t know about that one homie…
Finish 30 ahead of halos, sure… Hell ! Houston will finish ahead of the halos..

A’s will win division over Texas by a small margin.

I happen to think the Angels will at least be competitive, maybe around .500. But the Rangers will not be far behind the A’s as those two teams battle for the division.

Think the Angels will be competitive too (admitted the Rangers fan). Pujols and Hammy couldn’t be as bad again as they were last year, could they? Pitching-wise, Weaver’ll be back and healthy, Santiago, 96-mph-throwing Richards and Skaggs could be a decent young and cheap #3-#5, and Joe Smith is a great setup guy. Lots of things to like about the Angels this season.

Just think, in 4-5 years, Pujols’ contract will make Hamilton’s look like a bargain.

In 4 to 5 years… Albert will have been retired for 3 to 4 years, with 100 mil still to be paid on his contract.

So, yes, Hamiltons contract is not looking good, but Alberts is the indisputable worst contract ever.

At least the Yanks got rings with A-fraud.

Trout can get 6yr 200mil anywhere.

It is way too early to call Albert’s contract worst ever. Not with Delmon Youngs and Barry Zitos floating around. In 2012 Albert hit .285/.343/.516 which was very good, if not vintage Albert.. Last year he was pretty good when he wasn’t hurt, but plantar fasciitis is very painful and debilitating. I don’t think you can judge where he will be this year from last year.

If he comes back for 2-3 more good years (not great, but solidly good) which I think is likely, then it’s merely a serious overpay for the last five years. But not worst-ever territory. We are a long way from that. I would bet more on Hamilton for that anyway.

I know you personally dislike Albert, but that’s a different issue. I wouldn’t call him finished as a player just yet.
