Miguel Sano to have elbow examined after more soreness

Feb 28, 2014, 1:03 PM EST

Twins Daily Reuters

More bad news for stud prospects, as slugging Twins third baseman Miguel Sano joins Oscar Taveras and Taijuan Walker in having negative injury updates today.

Sano has been dealing with elbow problems since winter ball, but was cleared for game action upon arriving at Twins camp. Unfortunately in yesterday’s game he tweaked his elbow making a throw from third base and will be looked at by doctors today.

Because of his size Sano was already a question mark to stick at third base defensively long term, so the elbow problems further decrease those odds. Previously there was talk that he might require Tommy John surgery, which while not as bad for position players as pitchers would still be a major setback in his development.

Dear lord trade him to a different team before his arm falls off. PLEASE DON’T LET THE TWINS’ MEDICAL STAFF LOOK AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sano: Yeah my elbow is hurting when I make throws.

Twins Training Staff: What’s this elbow you speak of, is that a new body part? Feverishly goes to google to find out more out the human elbow.

Twins GM: Sano is out for year with Tommy John.

      Twins Fans: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

(this scenario is going through most Twins fans heads at this point)

    “Miguel Sano”

Great. Just great. The announcement that TJ surgery is needed should be showing up any time now.

Sano’s debut was one of the few things for Twins fans to look forward to this year…in what will most likely be another season with around 90 losses.

I guess Sano and Buxton will just have to make their grand entrance together in 2015.

Put Mauer(the best “athlete” on the team) at 3rd Sano at 1st, problem solved.

what’s with putting athlete in quotes? did you know mauer was offered a full scholarship to play quarterback for florida state. i’d say that nobody on the wild can say that, if i knew any of their names.

happytwinsfan. You have a vaild point about mauer, but you’re a fool to question hockey players, Justin Mourneau would be glad to fill you in on that. The wild are a FAR more relavant team and your really missing out on a great sport. You must not be from Minnesota.
