Derek Jeter is in The Best Shape of His Life

Mar 7, 2014, 1:30 PM EST

Because of course he is:

Guess that means Brendan Ryan isn’t going to get as much playing time as he hoped.

    Seems unlikely.

  2. shutdownespn - Mar 7, 2014 at 1:53 PM

Does that mean he’ll get to balls that are hit 13 inches to his left?

    Deano will take over anyways!!

If you’re in the BSOYL in your 40′s then you weren’t in particularly good shape in your 20′s.

Jeez, you’re practically putting him in his grave! He’s only 39 (until mid-year), not in his 40s. You know how guys in their 20s are: going to live forever, can eat anything, never have to work out.

When you begin that working out, you discover muscles you never knew you had, and once you get those in shape, you probably ARE in better shape overall than when younger. The young guys don’t realize that until later.

Anyway, this guy has come back too many times after being written off, so I wouldn’t bet against him. He probably cut WAY back on the gift baskets this off-season (wink, wink) and got down to business, KNOWING this would be his last hurrah.

So jeter was slacking off during his 20s and 30s? He’s only now in the best shape of his life at age 40? That’s not the kind of work ethic you’d expect from a captain.

Captain Crunch is in better shape!

This season is going to be so much fun, isn’t it?

      • gloccamorra - Mar 8, 2014 at 1:03 AM

You betcha! All his teammates are going to be putting out, trying to win one for the Jeets. Hollywood won’t do the movie unless the Yankees win it all, for the Jeets.

The Amazing-Beep=Gimpy-Beep-O-Rama continues. Your adulation Idolization is expected and required at a ballpark near you coming soon.

Because he is Derek Jeter (aka “The Captain”), then WHATEVER shape he’s in is, by definition, the best.

    • 18thstreet - Mar 8, 2014 at 9:39 AM

His eyes have never been calmer.

I lost count of how many times I’ve read on HBT that “(Fill in the blank) is in the best shape of his life”

Umm.. yeah.. that’s the running bit.

  9. maritime85 - Mar 7, 2014 at 7:31 PM

    Hes not

  10. dcarroll73 - Mar 7, 2014 at 11:55 PM

I will point out that this a a tweet claiming that Prince Hal said that the Captain said… And posters are going to dump on Jeter about this? Puh-lease! From this we have no clue what Jeter actually said, but given is awesome record for caution and hitting right notes I would bet the farm that this is NOT what he said.

I said that too, until I got winded opening the mail.
