The independent Kalamazoo Growlers are making a “selfie jersey”

Mar 12, 2014, 1:30 PM EDT

If Ellen and the Oscars didn’t kill the idea of the “selfie” I suppose it’ll never die. So why not let the independent league Kalamazoo Growlers make a jersey out of fan-submitted selfies:

Remember, kids: even if you use the famous “Myspace angle” you’re not fooling anyone. So let’s make those pics honest, OK?

Please, God, none of my relatives be in that…

    This has gone too far.

First twitheads, and now selfie jerseys–it has become the narcssists’ world…the rest of us just live here. Not that they’d ever notice.

I other parts of the world, naming a team the ‘Growlers’ would rise some serious eyebrows….

Just looked up what it means in Australian slang…

Hmm. In US slang “growler” is a term for a large bottle of beer, typically a 1/2 gallon, sold at brew pubs. On the other hand, going to bed with a “hottie” in Australia has nothing to do with anyone who looks somewhat like Kate Upton. Unless you have taped a picture of Ms. Upton on your hot water bottle.

    Pfff….what a ripoff.

A-Rod has a closet full of clothes that are made of nothing but pictures of himself.

that’s a great marketing idea – everyone on that jersey probably bought shirts for themselves, as well as relatives & friends…or at least that’s something I would do…

The Growlers are a part of the summer collegiate Northwoods League, not an independent league.

Thanks, I was going to state that, but you beat me to it! Maybe they were thinking of the old Kings in the Frontier League. I hope to make it to a game in Kalamazoo this summer.
