Jurickson Profar’s rough spring now includes teeth removal

Jurickson Profar still hasn’t been cleared to play defense because of a shoulder injury and now the Rangers infielder has another problem to deal with: T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports that he had four wisdom teeth removed today and is expected to be sidelined for 3-5 days.

Profar was already cutting it kind of close in terms of being fully healthy by Opening Day, so this certainly doesn’t help matters. He bounced around the infield as a 20-year-old rookie last season, but Profar is expected to be the Rangers’ primary second baseman following the departure of Ian Kinsler to Detroit in the Prince Fielder trade.

This time last year he was considered by many to be the best prospect in all of baseball, so getting Profar healthy will play a huge role in the Rangers’ season.

    this means nothing

he has been swinging the bat almost every day in games
heck, he homered the other night to put them ahead.

Tommy Hanson also pitched 4 innings, 2 hits, 1 ER, 2 SO
media seems to be shielding him as of right now

My oh my. We still pull teeth for sore shoulders? I thought that stopped after Dr. Frank Jobe made a name for himself by actually finding and fixing problems with the shoulder & elbow. the longer you live the more likely you are to see everything twice i guess

I guarantee this guy is a bust.

      I completely agree

Why not have them removed a month ago?

Love how people declare him a bust because he’s missed time in SPRING TRAINING.

Oh, hey and another thing, MeatCarroll. You don’t know squat, alright?

And don’t hold the ball so hard, OK? It’s an egg. Hold it like an egg.

They have 4 mos off and he does it now??

It’s entirely possible the pain only started very recently. Getting wisdom teeth pulled is not something you just pop in and do “because”.

Cano and his root canal, there was another pitcher out with a sore tooth (I can’t remember who), and now this? Forget Qualifying Offers. The union needs to worry about getting a better dental plan.

If Profar was a Met, I guarantee the dominant narrative would be “It’s time for this guy to get healthy and start proving his worth.” But he’s not a Met, so instead he gets a lifetime blank check both for benefit of the doubt and hype.

Oh ouch. I feel bad for him. I got dry socket after mine and the pain was incredible. Chipmunk cheeks. I cringe just seeing the words wisdom teeth. Hope you heal quickly, Jurickson.

Future face of the franchise needs a good smile.
