More Phillies injuries: Bobby Abreu is banged up

Mar 24, 2014, 11:32 AM EDT

Just the latest injury news from Philly:

A few weeks ago this would have seemed academic. But with other injuries, Abreu is/was still a pretty decent possibility for the Opening Day roster. But if he can’t even pretend to play the field, well, maybe not.

Is it theoretically impossible to discern if Abreau is “slowed, by a minor injury”?

Did MLB institute a “What Year Is It?” postseason award that the Phillies desperately want to win?

He probably injured it crashing into the wall to make a catch.

At least it isn’t his throwing shoulder, which means he won’t be hindered in returning any of the baseballs he won’t be catching.

Clearly it’s from that bat resting on it too much.
