HBT Extra: I’m 3/5 optimistic about the NL East

Mar 27, 2014, 2:30 PM EDT

Kay and I talk about the NL East. Please remember what I say here when I am later accused of being a Braves homer.

Oh my god, this chick has THE WORST broadcaster voice inflections I’ve ever heard. So exaggerated it’s borderline enraging. Just talk like a human being for god’s sake.

    5. Marlins

Nats starting pitching is great. Bullpen is not very good. Defense is suspect. A lot of overrated bats in the lineup. Braves have more depth. Braves won the division last year with only Freeman and Johnson hitting to go along with the average starting pitching. Nats make one of the wild card spots. That being said, even though I don’t like Harper, I think he contends for the NL MVP.

  9. Joe Vecchio - Mar 29, 2014 at 10:33 AM

Clearly it’ll be either the Braves or the Nats winning the division, with a good chance whoever finishes second winning one of the WC spots. The Nats will be better this year, their only weakness/concern is defense. The Brave’s pitching isn’t QUITE as dominant as the Nats, but it should be adequate, especially if BJ and Uggla rebound and have even adequate years at the plate.

And of course you never know what toll injuries will take on either team.
