HBT Daily: Do any of today’s games actually matter?

Mar 31, 2014, 1:30 PM EDT

No, not really. But there is one that I think may be a harbinger of a great race this season. Kay and I discuss:

Uuh…wow? These games count in the standings, and playoff races often boil down to 1-to-2 game leads/deficits…so yes, they do “actually matter.” Are you and this Kay chick really that clueless?

Indeed, I can just picture the manager, minutes after missing the postseason by 1/2 game, explaining, “No, the gap is because of a loss in April, and since those don’t matter, we actually are tied.”

If the Cubs win it does. Because it may be the only day of the year we Cubs fans get to celebrate being over .500

Yes, of course they matter. What kind of person thinks afternoon games don’t matter, other than Ron Gardenhire?

    “No, not really” ???

Craig don’t be such a sour puss! Today’s games count just as much as game 162. Is this just you nitpicking EVERY LITTLE aspect of the game for material?

Only if one of the teams misses the playoff by one game. But then, that’s true of every game.
