VIDEO: Joey Votto does hilarious interview in Royal Canadian Mounted Police costume

Apr 8, 2014, 10:03 PM EDT

Reds first baseman Joey Votto said in February that he wants Cincinnati baseball fans to get to know him better and that his workmanlike approach might have kept that from happening in his first several years with the club. If this is the real Joey Votto — dry-witted but goofy — we’d love to see more and more …

“I throw it on, hop on Nibbles, and we go solve some problems.” Outstanding stuff, Constable Votto.

Votto has been a recluse before this year. Seems his PR folks urged him to get to be more likeable with fans. He has done a complete 180 as far as connecting with fans this year.
