Jose Reyes is on track to be activated Friday

Apr 15, 2014, 9:59 PM EDT

Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star has the update

Reyes was pulled from the Blue Jays’ season-opener after just one plate appearance with tightness in his left hamstring. An MRI was taken and ruled out structural damage. The 30-year-old shortstop missed 29 total games in 2011 with hamstring issues and sat out for 10 weeks last season because of an ankle injury.

So, he should be back on the DL by Saturday? Sunday at the latest?

Great news! Meanwhile, with Izturis now on the shelf, Muni has been doing just fine tonight against the Twins on a beautiful frigid Minnesota evening.

It was kind of cold to be playing baseball in Minnesota last night. With Kawasaki in the lineup, the Jays will not miss Izturis. Both Kawasaki and Goins were 2 for 5 against the Twins in temperatures near the freezing mark. I am sure that the Jays hitters were comforted knowing that they were hitting against Phil Hughes..

Did Kawasaki suddenly become a good big leaguer? Did I miss something?

He is a good luck charm.

I figure the race on. Who will be more of a let down to his team this year Reyes or Texeira?

      Tex in a landslide victory.

With their win last night, and the Yankees being rained out, the Jays are now alone in first place in the AL East. They are in this position without Reyes; however, it will be a great boost to the team to get him back.

They should let him get to 100 percent. Wait a week then bring him back. Hope they aren’t pushing it.

Send Kawasaki back down on Friday. Keep Goins and Diaz.
