Bartolo Colon may miss his next start

The Daily News reports that Bartolo Colon‘s back was bothering him in his last start, and that “it remains to be seen,” if he will be able to make his next scheduled start on Saturday.

He was beaten to a pulp by the Angels in that last start, and Mets’ officials say the back was a factor. Nor shocking given how uncharacteristic that performance was compared to the late-period Colon we’ve come to expect.

Between this and Jenrry Mejia being pulled after five innings with a broken blister last night, the Mets pitching staff is kinda banged up.

Get well soon, Dugong. I shall miss his happy face on the mound.

Rod Beck’s still right. Nobody goes to the DL for “pulled fat.”

The Mets staff being banged up may, surprisingly, not be a major problem for them. Both Dice-K and Rafael Montero are pitching very well in AAA Las Vegas, and by June they may be considering calling up Syndergaard as well. So they actually do have some viable options in case of injuries such as these.
