The Braves have surprised with a major league-best 1.54 ERA from their starters so far this season, but their rotation is about to get even stronger.

According to David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Mike Minor could be activated from the disabled list to start Saturday against the Reds. Minor underwent a urinary tract procedure on December 31 and showed up to spring training with some shoulder soreness, but he made it through four minor league rehab appearances (three starts) without incident. The southpaw will be cleared to return if he feels good during a bullpen session tomorrow.

David Hale has a 2.93 ERA through three starts, but he will likely be sent down to Triple-A Gwinnett or be moved to the bullpen when Minor is activated.

What Hale lacks in ability, he makes up for in guts. Kid is a competitor. I hope they handle him with care. He reminds me a lot of a young Kris Medlen. Case in point…the Bravos tried every way possible (Dan Ugly) to give the game away yesterday, but Hale kept them in it. Some pitchers would whine about it, but he took it like a pro. Glad he is on our team.

Finally! Yes, David Hale will be sent back to Triple-A when Minor’s back in the rotation but Hale’s contribution at the rotation is certainly magnificent, truly hate to see the guy sent down but I’m pretty sure we’ll see him again in the 40 man roster.

Fredi should just move Hale to the bullpen. He’s a good power arm and can pitch multiple innings. I’ll take him over Schlosser.

I’d take Hale over several in that shaky bullpen.
