Tigers right-hander¬†Anibal Sanchez was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 26 with a nasty blister on his right middle finger — described at the time as a laceration. The initial hope of the Detroit medical staff was that he would be fully healed after that 15-day stint, and all signs are pointing in that direction.

According to’s Jason Beck, Sanchez threw his first bullpen session Tuesday at Comerica Park before the Tigers’ game against the Astros and reported no discomfort. Sanchez is eligible to be activated¬†Monday, and could start that night in the Tigers’ series opener versus the Orioles in Baltimore.

Sanchez has a 2.93 ERA and 283 strikeouts in 279 2/3 innings since joining the Tigers in mid-2012.

    The headline sounds personal.

Just what the rest of the league needed, Detroit gets another star pitcher. It’s not enough they have Scherzer, Verlander, Porcello, Smyly, Sanchez returns as well. And maybe Robbie Ray now, too.

That pitching staff is totally loaded. Their 3, 4, and 5 starters would be #1 or #2 starters in most team’s rotations.

Most scary thing is, now the Tigers bats are on a tear.

Robbie Ray pitched pretty well in his debut, so Sanchez missing a start didn’t hurt the Tigers at all. I’d make sure he’s at %100, though.
