Dylan Bundy is close to facing hitters again

May 8, 2014, 8:02 PM EST

Good news for the Orioles this evening, as prospect right-hander Dylan Bundy continues to make progress from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com brings word that the 21-year-old threw 50 pitches today in a bullpen session and will face live hitters next Tuesday for the first time since his surgery last June.

Bundy confirmed the news on his personal Twitter account this evening:

Barring any setbacks, the plan calls for Bundy to advance to extended spring training games within the next two weeks. He could be an interesting midseason factor for the Orioles.
