Byron Buxton is injured again. Via Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, Buxton reinjured his wrist sliding into third base and is expected to undergo an MRI to determine the severity. Buxton was not in the Fort Myers Miracle lineup Friday or Saturday against the Jupiter Hammerheads in Class-A.

Buxton missed the first five weeks of the season after injuring the same wrist during spring training. Passan adds that this injury is not considered serious, but the Twins are being “exceedingly careful” with Buxton.

Buxton, 20, was rated the #1 overall prospect entering the season by Baseball Prospectus after slashing .334/.424/.520 with 12 home runs and 55 stolen bases between Single-A Cedar Rapids and High-A Fort Myers last year.

Guys… SLiDE FEET FIRST!!! Learn how to do it properly and just do it! You’ll end up in a better position to pivot with a hand to get up and continue running if it is needed.

Guys… I slide head first or feet first depending on the situation. This Dude above obviously is trying to be more of a teacher than a player. I suppose Rickey Henderson, Pete Rose, & others weren’t sliding properly too. Guys…

He will never pan out for the twins. Bilateral wrist weakness is a devastating diagnosis for a baseball player.
His next club will find out just how good he can be, though.

nicofthenorthstar- I get where you are going with this, and I find it hilarious….but it makes me want to cry at the same time. I am so sick of Mauer and his never ending contract.

Unfortunately, I don’t know if any of our prospects will ever pan out because we are always too busy misdiagnosing players for injuries (bad medical staff) and our coaching staff spoils some and puts others in the dog house…..I’m tailing about you Ortiz, Gomez, and Hardy! That list could go on btw.
