Ryne Sandberg says he got food poisoning from the Shake Shack at Citi Field

May 13, 2014, 4:46 PM EDT

Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg lost six pounds in two days because of food poisoning and just told reporters where he got it:

Rivalry-wise, Shake Shack could probably include that fact in their advertisements in New York and sell more burgers.

shake shack > all other burgers ever

Shake Shack burgers aren’t even good, let alone greatest ever. Right in between McDonalds and Wendys. Five Guys blows that noise out of the water.

There’s nothing I can eat at Shake Shack — I’m vegetarian and don’t really understand the cult following. That said, it disappoints me as a Yankees fan that Citi Field has VASTLY better food and beer offerings than Yankee Stadium. Generally I just avoid eating and drinking at the park because it’s so expensive, but if it is a long game and I’m starving, it sucks getting a crappy $12 sandwich.

But I can get Two Boots pizza at Citi, so there’s that.

Very poor form by him to say where he thinks he got it. He has no idea, as it could have been from the coffee or tap water in the clubhouse; and it damages the brand. Best to keep quiet and say he had “flu like symptoms.”

You make a good point in that he may have contracted it elsewhere –but not likely tap water or coffee –neither is a potentially hazardous food.

Maybe he are nothing but shake shack while in NY. Did you consider that, smarty pants?

Jakes Wayback – started off as a little shack in my hometown of Newark. But soon they will be everywhere….and they are still in that little shack

Has anyone considered that he may have been vomiting because he has to deal with Jonathan Papelbon?

If anything he vomited when he saw Bastardo’s performance.

Am I wrong to find this funny? I mean, there’s loads of possibilities here. “Discount Shake Shack Night Brought to You By Pepto Bismol”.

    It’s not Ryan it’s Ryne.

Shake Shack burgers will kill you. Don’t eat them.
