SportsDash: What kind of a jackwagon would steal Hunter Pence’s scooter?

May 27, 2014, 5:03 PM EDT

We learned yesterday that someone went and stole Hunter Pence‘s motorized scooter. That’s low, man. Today Kay Adams, Dave Briggs and I talked about it on SportsDash on NBCSN:

This man deserves his scooter back! and fast because he went 0-4 yesterday, and who seriously steals a scooter?

If a player loses his Rolex, is that a story also.

Robbers should do a background check before stealing something that was left on the street… had it been mine: sure, go ahead and steal it, but Pence? Come on!!! Baseball players are basically on the verge of welfare. We should pony up to buy Hunter P. a new scooter, poor boy.

Glad to see this non-story warranted a second post. Any breaking news regarding ScooterGate?

    It’s a mystery.

It actually works, but says Page not found, rather than the aforementioned article.

The real question is why it was left in a place where any ol’ jackwagon could steal it?

What kind of a jackwagon still uses the term jackwagon?

Pence already commented yesterday that the scooter was unlocked because it apparently had some odd and rare charging connector such that a thief woud be unlikely to be able to use it. Now I will grant you that this is taking a chance that a thief has a brain. I once had a battered old black English 3-speed bike that I was young, poor, and crazy enough to ride through the streets of Boston (only narrowly missed “execution by cabbie”, oh, maybe 6 times.) The bike might have been worth $80 if it hadn’t been rusted and bashed about so maybe $20? Nevertheless I locked it with a chain about a half-inch thick that was coated in this special, gritty plastic designed to thwart hacksaws (very popular top-selling item in Boston bike shops then.) My point is that YES Pence could have been more careful, but it is still pretty mean-spirited to mock him just because he makes a lot more money than we do.
