Rangers ace Yu Darvish has been scratched from tonight’s scheduled start against the Twins with neck stiffness.

Darvish began the season on the disabled list with a neck injury, but ended up missing just one start and has been his usual fantastic self with a 2.35 ERA and 71/19 K/BB ratio in 61 innings spread over nine starts for Texas.

That includes a near no-hitter versus the Red Sox on May 9 and Quality Starts in each of his past four outings dating back to May 4. Darvish has allowed more than three runs in a start just once all season and has thrown at least six innings in eight of his nine starts as well.

Scott Baker is expected to make tonight’s start in Darvish’s place, matching up against his old team after spending the first eight seasons of his career in Minnesota.

Darn more bad news, when will it get better? and who takes over for him?

As a baseball fan, that stinks, and I hope it’s nothing more than a minor injury.

As a Twins fan, all I can say is phew! Maybe we can get off the schneid against “Moonshot Scott.”

Zippity do dah! No Darvish and we get to watch Scotty. First pitch in less than three hours. Where’s the popcorn?

We best watch out for Saunders tomorrow though. He’s got his ERA under 10.

Darvish has been a pain in the neck for hitters. AL hitters will probably send him good wishes and will tell him to take his time and make sure that he is completely healthy. A nice long rehab stint is also recommended.

I’m okay with him coming back to full strength by Friday.

What is the weather like in Minnesota, because all of us Ranger fans are praying for a rain-out.

Every time I start feeling better about the Rangers there’s just another kick in the bag like this. Just make it stop.
