Red Sox place Clay Buchholz on 15-day disabled list

Buchholz may have something wrong with his left knee, but this move is more performance-related than anything. The right-hander surrendered six earned runs in just three innings Monday afternoon against the Braves and owns a hideous 7.02 ERA through 10 starts this season. He has allowed 75 hits in 50 innings for an opponents’ batting average of .339. The Red Sox are hoping that a bit of rest will do him some good.

Buchholz, 29, posted a 1.74 ERA across 108 1/3 innings last year for the World Series champs.

I doubt that it will be for only 15 days? It will take longer than that to straighten him out.

Sucking ballz is not something the 15day DL tends to fix. I think it might take a bit longer than that to try empty and re-load his head.

Place him on the 60-day, then IR, then watch him go 17-2 with a sub 2.00 ERA next year. Then his shoulder will fall off in 2016 and perhaps that will be it for him.
