Yasiel Puig takes the lead in NL All-Star voting

Jun 3, 2014, 2:30 PM EDT

Andrew McCutchen may play the game the right way, but voters so far want to see Yasiel Puig. The reigning MVP is down to fourth in the outfield voting which kinda stinks because McCutchen is awesome, but with democracy you take the good with the bad and having Puig in a starting slot is good. Charlie Blackmon is a lot of fun this year, but let’s swap him out for Cutch and then everyone’s happy, yes?

In other news, Ryan Braun took a big tumble, so all pearl-clutching energy can be focused on the American League for now.

Early prediction: Puig makes the All-Star team…and participates in the home-run derby. During the derby, there will be a spectacular bat flipping show in which Puig will be the star.

They’re going to need a lot of bats…

      • tbird05 - Jun 3, 2014 at 3:48 PM

Not really. In practical application, it will only happen on big home runs…like one that puts him over the threshold of the next round or makes him the winner. Still a show…just a short one.

The Home Run Derby becomes the Bat Flip Derby, and Puig beats Carlos Gomez in the final round.

Puig is special, but Cutch is better than 4th.

You’re right and maybe if Cutch get hot at the right time, he will get in top 3. It worked for Jason Kipnis last season, tearing it up in June, manager chose him. It also wouldn’t hurt my fantasy baseball team if he tore it up either. :)

    the immortal Charlie Blackmon

Those damn pitchers better figure Puig out soon. This is going to drive the haters crazy.

Looks like the Rookies’ fan vote a lot!

  6. jrbdmb - Jun 3, 2014 at 3:54 PM

Some fan of the Rockies has figured out a great way to game the system. Charlie Blackmon???

    • scorpiox1960 - Jun 4, 2014 at 1:23 PM

Apparently the Rockies do not have a catcher or 2nd baseman.

  7. musketmaniac - Jun 3, 2014 at 4:03 PM

know worries, Cutch gets hot every June. 3 doubles and a home run the last two days.

  8. onbucky96 - Jun 3, 2014 at 4:07 PM

Huh? When did they add Douche Bag as a starting position?

    • jimeejohnson - Jun 3, 2014 at 9:00 PM

      When you joined the team.

the people complaining about all star fan voting should all stick their heads in a fire

    • jimeejohnson - Jun 3, 2014 at 9:00 PM

      Roasted Pea Brains: Mmmmmmm!

Yasiel Puig moves into fourth in NL all-star voting might be a less exciting headline, but it would have the limited benefit of being accurate.

When all said and done the SF ballot stuffers will have done it again.

I’d love for them to get Angel Pagan in there, it would show how really stupid fan voting has become….
