Matt Harvey’s rehab is being slowed down a bit

This could be nothing. Or it could be terrifying: Matt Harvey, who was scheduled to throw off a mound early next week won’t be doing so, reports Kristie Ackert of the Daily News.

Harvey hasn’t had a setback, but rather the Mets have decided to slow the righty’s rehab down after talking to the team doctors and Dr. James Andrews. It’s apparently nothing physical. One wonders if it’s not calculated to get Harvey, who has said he’d like return before the end of the season, to cool it a bit.

Bright side: he can watch the Stanley Cup Final on Monday without getting hassled about it.

I think they want him to cool it. It’s a bit of a tug of war between him and the team, as ever. I’d be happier if they were communicating better, but what can you do?

So he’s not going to be able pitch Game 1 of the NLDS?

We can start talking about the possibility of the Mets making the playoffs as soon as the Mets actually have a winning record.

The Mets don’t have to do anything to slow him down. Just keep playing the way have been.
