Padres place Jedd Gyorko on 15-day disabled list with plantar fasciitis

Jun 6, 2014, 11:05 PM EDT

jedd gyorko getty Getty Images’s Corey Brock reports that the Padres have placed second baseman Jedd Gyorko on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 4, with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Gyorko was not in the Padres’ lineup on Wednesday in the series finale against the Pirates, and the team used Thursday’s off-day to give him rest and to gauge the injury.

Gyorko hasn’t had a great 2014 after finishing sixth in NL Rookie of the Year balloting last season. He is slashing just .162/.213/.270 with five home runs and 24 RBI in 221 plate appearances.

Change of place? Its the third month of his second year you idiot!! He should have been sent down instead of DLd with a fake injury.

Padres are a joke! Period. Byrnes put his team together and he needs to be held accountable.I still can’t believe the new ownership kept Byrnes on when they took over the team.

he’s from my home town. but WTF were the padres thinking of when they gave him that contract this winter.

Well, he may be hitting only .162, but he’s one short of the team lead in homers and is leading the team in RBI.
