Rougned Odor has a shoulder injury

Because the Rangers’ injury news apparently never stops, now infielder Rougned Odor will be examined further by team doctors today after leaving Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury.

Odor hurt his shoulder sliding back into first base on a pickoff attempt and has been diagnosed with a sprain for now, leaving him day-to-day until the Rangers find out more.

Texas’ roster has repeatedly been wrecked by injuries all season and that continued yesterday, as the Rangers announced that first baseman/outfielder Mitch Moreland will miss three months following ankle surgery.

Odor, who was called up from Double-A well ahead of schedule at age 20 because of injuries to Jurickson Profar and Donnie Murphy, has hit .290 with two homers and a .793 OPS through 24 games.

Dan Uggla is available. He’s pretty bad, kinda expensive, but rather durable.

I may be crazy but something tells me he’d hit a lot of hrs in Arlington…..

They should hire me then. I’m old, terrible, but I’ll play for the minimum and show up every day ;-)

Rougned Odor? So many puns going through my head right now.

Let’s try a few snide asides, then: wow, he injured his shoulder. I guess that’s better than injuring his armpit!

Let’s see if their lineup continues to stink now that they’re Odor free. *rimshot*

They should bring back Michael Young for an encore. If they need an outfielder/DH, Vernon Wells is available. Wells lives in Arlington and would not cost much as he is still being paid millions by the Angels.

    • Old Gator - Jun 9, 2014 at 12:39 PM

You cannot measure what Wells would cost in terms of mere dollars and…scents (sorry about that, it’s this thread, you know?). His greatest negative value lies in his intangibles.

A Jays fan, of all people, should realize this going in. Or have you all been anaesthetized by your collective sense of relief?

The Rangers need warm bodies. They should emerge from this nightmare with a decent draft next season.
