Johnny Damon and Hideki Matsui to play in the Yankees Old Timers Game

Jun 10, 2014, 1:02 PM EDT

Well this is an unsettling development:

I am three and a half months older than Damon. I am 11 months older than Matsui And they are “old timers.” Sigh.

On the bright side, both of them have played recently enough to where the quality of the Old Timers Game is about to go up. Let’s see Don Larsen get that 84-year-old fastball by Godzilla!

Yankees Old Timers Day is the Greatest! And the game is hilarious on several levels. Some of the guys still play pretty well, the older ones have a fantastic time reliving Glory Days.
I hope Bucky Dent attends, maybe he can be induced to play in the real game.

Damon is going to ask for a special exception to be made so his hits count toward his career total. Only 231 to go til 3000!!

Can’t wait to see some soulmate duffer score from third on a short popup and beat out his throw to the plate.

Not to worry Miss, as long as you feel young that’s what counts.

    Guess what. You’re old.

Aren’t the Yankees kinda considered an Old Timer team right now?

” I am three and a half months older than Damon. I am 11 months older than Matsui And they are “old timers.” ”

Good God!! Man, you’re old!! Like… senile old!! Now i get why you write like that, and I should, I am *only* 1 year younger than Hideki Matsui.

/ i cry in a corner, while clenching my birth certificate.
    / not really :3

Talking about senile, i mean old, i mean the Yankees, i am sure they would not be able to score more than 2 runs against the Old Timers teams.

Old Timers Day is the greatest celebration during the regular season of the yankees, but its appeal has been decreasing constantly, maybe if or MLB Network showed it, it could catch more attention from fans who do not have YES Network, considering that all the festivities are about an hour long of duration.

Sadly, as time passes by, there wont be former big Yankee stars appearing in the game, we are now watching guys who played in the 1980s and early 1990s teams, when Pagliarulo used to be one of their best players along with “Donnie baseball”.

Is Damon officially retired now? Maybe this is a way to showcase his skills still….

I hope Damon grows a sick beard for the game.

In order to differentiate between the two, the pre game exhibition will be referred to as the “Really” Old Timer’s Game, which will then be followed the the regularly scheduled Old Timer’s Game vs. those young whipper snappers known as the Orioles.
