Cardinals schedule Jon Hamm bobblehead night

Jun 12, 2014, 10:17 AM EST

St. Louis native, University of Missouri alum, and lifelong Cardinals fan Jon Hamm will have his own theme night later this summer at Busch Stadium …

Meh, close enough. The “Mad Men” actor will throw out the first pitch before that August 18 game.

Here’s a clip of Hamm talking about his love for baseball and deep-rooted Cardinals fandom …

Honoring a fan is a great idea.

The Red Sox tried doing a Ben Affleck bobblehead once but they couldn’t make the base wide enough to keep it from tipping over.

      lmao….too funny

  3. chiadam - Jun 12, 2014 at 10:33 AM

Shouldn’t he have that jersey tucked into some jorts?

    • ereed1286 - Jun 12, 2014 at 10:34 AM

      No, he’s a classy midwesterner

  4. historiophiliac - Jun 12, 2014 at 10:41 AM

    Happy Birthday Stalking to meeeeee…..

I would be in favor of Hamm taking over as the Cardinal Manager.

    1) Then they would have the most handsome manager in baseball.

    2) It is nearly impossible for him to be worse at in-game moves than Matheny.

And then we could have ribald HBT stories about how he doesn’t wear underwear in the dugout!

      • paperlions - Jun 12, 2014 at 11:26 AM

I’d love to see him argue with the umps.

      • historiophiliac - Jun 12, 2014 at 11:33 AM

Honey, you could’ve just stopped after “him.”

      • paperlions - Jun 12, 2014 at 1:40 PM

He could bring wearing suits back to being a manger. Standing on the dug out steps, bourbon on the rocks in hand, intently watching the game.

      • historiophiliac - Jun 12, 2014 at 1:45 PM

I am for this, but I think we need to work in a way for him to take off his shirt sometimes because it’s a shame not to appreciate the great hair pattern as well.

      • paperlions - Jun 12, 2014 at 1:46 PM

I assume that would be his go to move when he’s been tossed from a game.

      • historiophiliac - Jun 12, 2014 at 1:47 PM

This is why replay is terrible.

      • historiophiliac - Jun 12, 2014 at 2:10 PM

I love getting thumbs down on here for facts.

Perhaps Miss Blankenship can throw out the first pitch.

    • historiophiliac - Jun 12, 2014 at 11:33 AM

They are *not* rolling Miss Blankenship out across the outfield.

If there are any St. Louis fans who plan on attending this game but don’t want this bobblehead, could you write a note in comments? My wife would love this.

    • paperlions - Jun 12, 2014 at 1:41 PM

I’m sure you’ll be able to find one on ebay.

Stock up the liquor cabinet. Make sure your wives are home, guys.

    • nothanksimdriving123 - Jun 12, 2014 at 4:06 PM

And in keeping with the network’s handling of Mad Men’s final season, fans will get half the bobblehead this year and the other half next year.

Let’s please hope this doesn’t lead to Jim Belushi bobblehead night at Wrigley. PLEASE.

    • mazblast - Jun 12, 2014 at 2:36 PM

But it could lead to George Clooney bobblehead night at the Great American Small Park. I doubt that it would happen, though, as George would demand that every fan getting one vote the straight Democratic ticket.

Here’s your ax. I’ve already ground it for you.

This is pretty awesome, and beyond that – that’s actually one of the better-looking bobbleheads I’ve seen.
