Adam Wainwright to miss his next start

Adam Waintwright says he’s feeling significantly better than he did before, but the Cardinals are taking some precautionary measures. They have announced that they are skipping his next start, scheduled for Monday. Instead he’ll start again a week from today.

Wainwright underwent an MRI on his sore right elbow earlier this week that showed no ligament damage, and the St. Louis medical staff believes he’s dealing with something similar to tennis elbow.

In his absence, some other Cardinals pitcher will have to shut out the Mets Monday night. Because, c’mon, you know it’s gonna happen.

Damn, as a Mets fan I’d rather face Wainwright. Yup we’re getting shutout Monday

Per Derrick Goold, pitcher Nick Greenwood has been recalled from Memphis and OF Randal Grichuk has been sent down.

Carlos Martinez gets the start Monday, and possibly beyond if Wainwright gets DL’d.

The “Baby Pedro” sect of the BFIB are now preparing mood lighting, a box of tissues and a pack of Lucky’s in wake of the euphoric announcement of Martinez’s start.

And in the realistic world, I hope to the baseball Gods he doesn’t face a lineup stacked with lefthanders.
