Plouffe suffered the left oblique injury in Saturday’s 12-9 loss to the Tigers and will likely be sidelined for the next three weeks. The 28-year-old third baseman is batting .241/.320/.400 with five home runs and 38 RBI in 64 games played this season. Eduardo Nunez finished out Saturday’s loss at the hot corner and could be the Twins’ primary starter there for the remainder of June. Eduardo Escobar is another option.

That was a weird injury. And now the Twins are reduced to Eduardo Scissorhands.

Give Nunez a chance he’ll get it done and he is a better third baseman than SS.
