We first heard about the possibility last night and now it’s official: The Diamondbacks have placed Bronson Arroyo on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

Long considered one of the most durable pitchers in the game, Arroyo has never had a stint on the disabled list in his career until now. That’s pretty remarkable when you consider that he has thrown 2,344 2/3 innings over 369 starts and 36 relief appearances in the majors dating back to 2000.

Per MLB.com, Blue Jays left-hander Mark Buehrle has the longest active streak in MLB with 443 starts without a stint on the disabled list. Now that Arroyo is off the board, the Tigers’ Justin Verlander ranks second at 280 starts.
