VIDEO: Josh Hamilton robs Gordon Beckham of a homer

Jul 2, 2014, 9:28 PM EDT

Watch as Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton battles the rain to rob White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham of a first-inning solo home run Wednesday night in Chicago …

Hamilton entered play Wednesday with a cool .315/.403/.469 batting line in 149 plate appearances.

He missed two months earlier this season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb and had a highly disappointing 2013, so the 33-year-old is looking to make up for lost time. The Angels are currently 47-35 on the year — good enough for second place in the American League West standings.

The slide into first was stupid… but Hamilton has been playing well in the game he’s been healthy for. Hopefully he can keep it up!

One of the most exciting players in the league when he’s healthy. Glad to see him out there and earning some of that big money he was paid. Great catch!
