Red Sox announcer Jerry Remy lost a tooth on the air

Jul 3, 2014, 3:02 PM EDT

Red Sox television analyst Jerry Remy was announcing last night’s game against the Cubs from the NESN broadcast booth when he lost a tooth.

Not like it got knocked out or anything. It basically just fell out of his head, much to the delight of play-by-play announcer Don Orsillo, who couldn’t stop laughing:

“Can you put it back in?”

That was the only thing to smile about for Red Sox fans last night.

Really has been for most of the season. Half the reason to tune in is to listen to Remy or Orsillo lose it on the air.

That tooth had a bona-fide screw in it, too. Weird.

If only it had happened at “tooth-hurty”…than it would have been a real story.

He played it pretty cool, but I would have been absolutely red-faced and overcome with embarrassment had it been me.

You should be embarrassed about the opening sentence of your comment.

I (heart) Jerry & Don. This one is almost as good as the pizza.

      NOTHING will top the pizza!

        I beg to differ.

The best was when the camera showed a guy and a girl in the crowd watching the game. And just as Jerry said something like “A nice couple enjoying some baseball today,” the guy grabbed the girls boob.

Don and Jerry covered their mics but you could hear their muffled laughter for minutes while they occasionally tried to recover and call the game.

        classic

Why does negaduck’s comment somehow recall a lost classic from Soupy Sales?

Poor Remy been through a lot this past year and now he’s losing his teeth.

The poor Martel family. The lost a hell of a lot more.

He probably could have hurt himself trying to put it back in. It’s not hard to see that screw opening a cut somewhere.

    “Summer Teeth”. I love it.

I love how they seemlessly go from talking about the tooth to calling Olt’s home run shot.

The tooth was trying to go out for a beer.

In other news, the Red Sox offense has been sort of toothless this season as well.
