Chris Sale, Anthony Rizzo among those on the All-Star Game Final Vote list

Jul 6, 2014, 8:07 PM EDT

Chris Sale Chris Sale

The American League had some notable starting pitching snubs when the rosters were unveiled this evening. So it is no surprise that the five American Leaguers on the Final Vote list are starters:

On the National League side, it’s all hitters:

Voting closes on Thursday at 4 PM ET.

I really want to see Garrett Richards there, but Chris Sale is too good not to vote for.

Chris Sale does clearly belong on the All Star team. He is one of the games better pitchers.

Totally agree. Love Richards, but Sale has to be on there before him.

Thank God no Brewers made the final Ballot. Their broadcasts have been unwatchable in previous yrs due to the P.R. dept. taking over to get another Brewer to the game.

Dbacks broadcast was the same, even when Goldy got a big lead over Gonzalez.

I’m voting for Richards. Nothing against Sale, he’s been fantastic, but as an A’s fan I want to see another AL West player in the ASG. Richards was nasty again today too.

    Chris Sale and Casey Mcgehee

  5. miguelcairo - Jul 7, 2014 at 1:21 AM

It’s tough because all these guys deserve to be on the team.

I vote for fill in the blank candidate in the NL: Jake Arrieta. Best ERA among starting pitchers in the NL were he to qualify and he’s only thrown 17 less innings than Kershaw. Decent strikeout rate and he’s only given up 2 HRs all season. He is overlooked because he’s a Cub and didn’t pitch in April. Alas, maybe next year

How can you not vote for Kluber? The guy is a stud.

And atleast Lucrybaby didn’t make the starting spot at catcher. Stupid Fair weather brewer fans

  8. sportsfan18 - Jul 7, 2014 at 8:48 AM

Gotta be Sale, should already be there…

Oh, Kershaw is on the N.L. squad…

Innings pitched so far this season…

    Kershaw 87.1 innings.

    Sale 87.1 innings.

    Oh, want or need more?

Kershaw WHIP so far this season… 0.870

Sale WHIP so far this season… 0.870

Yeah, Kershaw is the better pitcher… my point is that Chris Sale IS one of the better pitchers in the game and should have already been on the team…

    The Rizz

  10. Jason Lukehart - Jul 7, 2014 at 9:24 AM

Corey Kluber is 2nd in the AL in FIP and 3rd in fWAR. He’s not the only guy who was wrongly overlooked, but he certainly deserves to be on the team.

  11. kevinsterne - Jul 7, 2014 at 9:33 AM

And this is why fa a shouldn’t vote for all stars.

  12. takingbovadasmoney - Jul 7, 2014 at 9:47 AM

By the time players drop out most of these guys will be added anyway

  13. WillIEverSeeACupInMyLife? - Jul 7, 2014 at 1:55 PM

the all star game is a joke anyway…i would not want my teams players in it..let them rest and get ready for second half of season.
