In the Nats Park club formerly known as the Stars & Stripes Club, by the team store, there’s a poster of baseball cards like the one behind Craig. They’re from 1988 or 1989. Fun to look at.

Also, each of the two bars in the club has walls covered in old baseball cards of various sizes and vintages. Including a few 1984 Washington cards, which were printed when it looked like the Padres were moving here.

Craig, I think the burning question that you missed here is: will we see an HBPiD in 2014? Last year was probably a high point for that (3, if I remember correctly), but this year, there haven’t been any so far. Will it happen in the 2nd half? And, is this drop off in numbers related to all the pitching problems around the league? Will there not be a return of the HBPiD until pitchers start getting healthy again? Will we have to wait until 2015 to see a rebound in these tragically low numbers? I hate to say it, but this might be part of why baseball is dying.

Maybe Jon Daniels can trade for some starting pitchers now that i heard Holland won’t be back until September, and we might get out of last place.
