“Did y’all get that on tape?” Cliff Lee ends postgame media session with loud fart

Jul 22, 2014, 9:45 AM EST

Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee struggled last night in his return from the disabled list, allowing six runs in a loss to the Giants. Afterward he conducted a typical postgame media session with various beat reporters in the Phillies’ clubhouse, during which he very seriously and calmly answered their questions.

And then he ended things with a loud fart.

Oh, and luckily our friends at CSNPhilly.com caught the whole thing on video, including Lee’s “did y’all get that on tape?” They did, Cliff. They did.

John Finger of CSNPhilly.com makes an excellent point regarding the aftermath of Lee’s fart:

Baseball writers may not be able to defeat baseball players at a whole lot of things, but farting is one area they can definitely dominate.

His results might not have been great last night, but it was still nice to see him throwing gas.

Sounded wet he better check his drawers.

Was thinking the same thing. After growing up with a father who thought farts were the funniest thing ever, i immediately recognized that sound. Never ended well for the old man.

my dad’s favorite comments always was, “you know what the definition of surprise is? A fart with a lump in it”. Funny guy, my old man.

I think everyone’s dad is like that. Hahah

I’m crying here… that is freaking hilarious.

    Grow up, Cliff.

      Mirror.

  5. sportsdrenched - Jul 22, 2014 at 10:02 AM

That’s what the Royals offense has sounded like the entire season.

  6. fawnliebowitz - Jul 22, 2014 at 10:08 AM

    Never grow up, Cliff.

    Another 15 second add for a 23 second clip…

  8. larrymahnken - Jul 22, 2014 at 10:29 AM

I didn’t know that Cliff Lee was related to Chris Dial.

    Good push.

    Slow news day?

  11. tbird05 - Jul 22, 2014 at 10:32 AM

    “Bringing the heat”
    “Stinking Cheddar”
    “Throwing gas”

All terms that apply to pitching and farting…must be a reason they call this a kids game.

Love it. Now if we could only get Greg Maddux up there to piss down someones leg.

“Did y’all get that on tape?” – the perfect subtitle for the 2014 Phillies season-in-review DVD. Just show highlights of Dom Brown and Ben Revere flailing after balls in the outfield while Cliff Lee narrates with farts. I’d buy it.

  13. jrs45 - Jul 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM

Well at least he looked around before he did it. Stay clear boys!!

  14. cincinata - Jul 22, 2014 at 11:01 AM

Maybe he was just commenting on the interviewers. Not his favorite people.

  15. billtetley53 - Jul 22, 2014 at 11:36 AM

One reporter was quoted as saying, ” Well, his voice is changing, but his breath still smells the same “.

  16. mungman69 - Jul 22, 2014 at 11:57 AM

The Phillies’ season in a nut (fart) shall!

  17. jimeejohnson - Jul 22, 2014 at 12:12 PM

Whoever smelt it dealt it. Whoever denied it supplied it.

He should be traded to the Rangers:

I wish I could say I don’t understand exactly what you’re talking about. But I do.

  20. 84cubs - Jul 22, 2014 at 12:54 PM

I guess the old adage applies ” money cant buy class”

    • Chip Caray's Eyebrows - Jul 23, 2014 at 12:17 AM

How much does a sense of humor run? Think you can afford one?

      • 84cubs - Aug 8, 2014 at 11:14 AM

I see, so a passing gas on national tv constitutes humor in your world?

      • Chip Caray's Eyebrows - Aug 8, 2014 at 1:27 PM

        1) He wasn’t on national TV.

        2) Yes.

    Not silent but very deadly
