Hannahan underwent shoulder surgery over the offseason and his longer-than-expected recovery cost him the first four months of the 2014 season. The versatile 34-year-old can be a valuable utility infielder down the stretch for the Reds, who are six games out of first place in the National League Central standings at the start of play Sunday. Hannahan has experience at first base, second base, third base, and shortstop.

    He’s awful.

0 for 4, 2 Ks. Welcome back, Jack.

The Reds have to be in sell mode by now. They have no credible prospects above AA and barely the depth to complete an interleague game with a DH. But hey, the rumor is they’re looking at mid-30s replacement players in the trade market. So there’s that.
