Oswaldo Arcia Bo Jackson’d his bat after a strikeout

Jul 28, 2014, 1:51 PM EST

Twins outfielder Oswaldo Arcia was unhappy about striking out yesterday against the White Sox, so he snapped his bat over his knee, Bo Jackson-style.

It kind of seems like cheating to snap the bat so close to the handle, but whatever. It’s also worth noting that Arcia is currently in the midst of a massive slump and has 183 strikeouts in 151 games as a big leaguer, so it’s probably not fair to really blame the bat at this point.

I may be crazy, but I believe I remember seeing Albert Belle snap his bat handle with the forward and back force of a checked swing. He must have had strength in his hands and wrists that put Arcia to shame. He also had a better haircut.

Let’s be honest though, the way bats are made these days guys are breaking bats on Jamie Moyer “fastballs” so it couldn’t be that hard for Arcia to snap that.

Anyone else get visions of him going back to his locker and doing chants, and lighting candles, and pouring a shot for his bat, ala Cerrano from Major League? Anyone?

Those splinters just missed his eyes. That would have been classic.
